WoodSafe® delivers a verified 66% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional
fossil-based plastic sharps bins — calculated through an independent Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The
containers are made from 80% biobased material derived from Swedish sawdust and pine oil, with 20%
polypropylene as a structural binder. This composition allows WoodSafe® to meet the same mechanical and
safety performance requirements as traditional plastic containers while significantly reducing the carbon
footprint of clinical and laboratory waste management. WoodSafe® is also autoclave-compatible at 134°C,
validated by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden,
making it suitable for sterilization cycles used across healthcare and life sciences settings.
